How To Find The Right Company To Work For

We are currently in a candidate driven market. This means that you are in the driving seat. Companies are having to up their game in order to get the talent they want and need in their businesses. You are the talent they want and need.

So, how do you find the right company to work for?

Company Research

Check out the website for the company and view their ‘about us’ section. This will tell you more about the business, how long they have been around and how they were set up. It may also share their company values, vision and mission. Does this fit with your future goals? Could you see yourself working with a company that has these values? If they have a ‘Meet the Team’ page this is a great thing to look at. Remember, these are the people you will be spending a lot of your time with so see what you can find out about them.

Social Media

Check out the business on social media too. Look at their Facebook business page to see their tone and style. Have a look on LinkedIn too. It will not only show you how they portray the business, but you can check out some of the people that work from them too. Again, it will help you understand the sorts of people you will be working with and for. Have a look on Glassdoor too. These are where staff can leave real and anonymous reviews of the company as an employer.

Interview Questions

It’s important to remember that the business is interviewing you as much as you are interviewing them. Take the time to go through the job description and write down any questions you may have. This could include career progression within the role. You may also want to know why the position is available, is it due to staff leaving or company growth. Use the opportunity to find out the goals of the business too.

Your Choice

Finally, remember it is your choice. Don’t be pressured into making a decision. Don’t be afraid to ask if you can go away and think about the job offer if you’re not quite sure. Looking to find the right company to work for is a big decision and it takes time. The company will want someone that is there for the long-term so they will be happy to wait a few days while you make the right decision for you.
