£25,000 plus benefits package

The Mechanical Technician post is for a technician who can build and verify intricate micro-mechanical assemblies and assist in the development of new instruments and delivery of performance improvements to existing products.

Responsibilities for the Mechanical Technician

Working as part of a close-knit team, this role will see you taking responsibility for:

Assembly of instruments and electro-mechanical sub-systems for development purposes, in accordance with manufacturing instructions
Verification of assemblies following pre-defined instructions and using a variety of standard and custom fixtures
Developing jigs and fixtures
Contributing to the development of assembly SOPs
Stocktaking and maintenance of inventory levels of components

Skills for the Mechanical Technician

Proven practical experience of high-tech assembly and test (preferably within a regulated environment such as medical/pharmaceutical or aerospace)
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings of components and assemblies
Experience in using mechanical and electronic measurement equipment
Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in developing relevant documentation such as work instructions and SOPs
Rigorous attention to detail combined with a creative approach to problem-solving
Good communication skills (written & verbal)
A can-do attitude for a variety of tasks including, goods-in inspection, stock control and manufacture
