They are looking to recruit an ambitious Key Account Manager to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for a portfolio of major national and international customers, identify opportunities for further growth and work closely with technical teams to deliver commercially successful projects.
Approximately 75% of the role will focus on managing and developing existing accounts, with the remaining 25% involving the identification and conversion of new business opportunities.
Main Responsibilities
Manage and develop a portfolio of key national and international accounts
Build strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers
Gain a detailed understanding of each customer’s business, objectives and future requirements
Create strategic account plans and identify opportunities to increase revenue
Identify and secure new business within existing and emerging markets
Manage bids, proposals, RFQs and quotations from initial enquiry through to completion
Work closely with engineering and technical teams to develop suitable customer solutions
Monitor pricing, profitability, commercial performance and project progress
Prepare accurate sales forecasts, pipelines and performance reports
Represent the business at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure projects are delivered successfully
Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records
Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies
Ensure customers receive a consistently high standard of service
Skills and Experience
The successful Key Account Manager will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Key Account Manager, Business Development Manager, Account Director or Senior Sales professional
A proven track record of retaining and growing existing customer accounts
Experience identifying and converting new business opportunities
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Experience managing complex B2B sales cycles
The ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels
Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-management skills
Strong organisational and project-management abilities
Confidence interpreting commercial data, forecasts and sales performance
A full UK driving licence
A degree or equivalent professional qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
Selling technical, engineering, consultancy or technology-based solutions
Managing international customers
Working within manufacturing, automotive, engineering or another technical industry
Responding to RFQs, tenders and complex commercial proposals
Working closely with engineering or technical delivery teams
